BayCare Clinic Neuropsychology offers the sub-speciality of pediatric neuropsychology. This sub-speciality provides our medical clinic with high quality care. We evaluate patients throughout Northeast Wisconsin and Michigan’s Upper Peninsula including Green Bay, Appleton, and the Fox Cities.
Pediatric neuropsychology is a professional specialty concerned with learning and behavior in relationship to a child’s brain. A pediatric neuropsychologist is a licensed psychologist with expertise in how learning and behavior are associated with the development of brain structures and systems.
BayCare Clinic Pediatric Neuropsychology offers formal testing of abilities such as memory and language skills to assess brain functioning. The pediatric neuropsychologist conducts the evaluation, interprets the test results, and makes recommendations. Sometimes, the pediatric neuropsychologist follows the child over time to adjust recommendations to the child’s changing needs. By comparing your child’s assessment to children of similar ages, the neuropsychologist can create a profile of your child’s strengths and weaknesses. The test results help detect:
• The effect of developmental, neurological, and medical problems • Epilepsy • Seizures • Concussion • Head trauma • Stroke • Autism • Pervasive Developmental Disorder • Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) • Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) • Learning Disability • Dyslexia • Genetic Disorders
Testing also provides a better understanding of the child’s behavior and learning in school, at home, and in the community. This evaluation can guide teachers, therapists, and parents to better help the child achieve his or her potential.
